Parameters of Ex-proof Detectors

Spectron-804-Exi - type of explosion protection is intrinsically safe electrical circuit. Explosion protection marking РО Ex ia I Ma X / 0Ex ia IIC T6 Ga X / Ex ia IIIC T85ºC Da X allows the detector to be used in hazardous areas of enclosed buildings and outdoor installations. Hazardous areas classes are Zones 0, 1 and 2.

An intrinsically safe circuit is required to connect an intrinsically safe detector.

The detector is connected to an explosion-proof control panel with an intrinsically safe output or to a general industrial control panel through an Intrinsic safety barrier. Manufacturer recommended IS barriers:

  • Spectron-IB-01 – 12 V/500 mA, for conventional detectors with 4-wire connection;

Spectron-804-Exm’s type of explosion protection is encapsulation in a compound. Explosion protection marking PB Ex mb I Mb X / 1Ex mb IIC T6 Gb X / Ex mb IIIC T85ºC Db X allows the detector to be used in hazardous areas of enclosed buildings and outdoor installations. Hazardous areas classes are Zones 1 and 2.

An intrinsically safe circuit is not required to connect a detector with the encapsulated within a compound type of protection. Cables have to be laid considering the requirements of the PUE (section 7.3) for electrical wiring in hazardous areas.

General Parameters of General Purpose Industrial and Explosion-proof Detectors

Spectron-804 series detectors are extremely immune to strong optical noise. Manual arc and argon welding are detected as false alarms.

Recommended for use in fire alarm and fire extinguishing systems in enclosed buildings and outdoor installations.

Circuit board of the device is equipped with a 3-stage lightning and surge protector, which allows using it without additional equipment for overvoltage protection.
  • Housing of Spectron-804 and Spectron-804-Exm/Exi detectors is made of high-strength ABS plastic;
  • Housing of Spectron-804-M and Spectron-804-Exm/Exi-M detectors is made of galvanized steel;
  • Housing of Spectron-804-N and Spectron-804-Exm/Exi-N detectors is made of AISI 321 stainless steel.

For configuring detector’s parameters, “Spectron” configurator program is used. The program allows:

  • request the status of the detector;
  • restart the detector;
  • change additional settings of the detector parameters.

Detectors with “HART” in the name are configured using HART-USB "Spectron" interface converter. To download the software from our website click this link.

    Detectors without “HART” in the name (with Modbus/RTU digital protocol) are configured using SB-RS-48 interface converter. To download the software from our website click this link.

    The maximum flame detection range in accordance with GOST R 53325-2012 is 25 meters to TP5 and TP6.

    For facilities with harsh operating conditions the detector is provided with sensitivity selection option - 4 operating modes with different range and time of flame detection.

    The field of view of Spectron-804 is 90º in the vertical, horizontal and all inclined planes.

    The transition of the detector from the Alarm mode to the Normal mode is carried out by disconnecting the power supply for at least 2 seconds

    The automatic transition of the detector from the Alarm mode to the Normal mode is activated by switching on the "Flame source control" function in the detector's service menu.

    • The operating temperature range of the detector in plastic housing is -55 to +75 ºС;
    • The temperature range of the detector in metal housing is -55 to +85 ºС;
